Clinical use of myskin™

Biopsy

A thin shave type biopsy is required for production of myskin. The biopsy is taken under local anaesthetic after cleansing an area of skin, usually on the thigh. The biopsy should be a maximum of 2x2 cm square. The biopsy must include some dermis as well as the epidermis. As a guide 0.8 mm is usually an adequate thickness to ensure the dermal/epidermal junction is taken.

Hands-on training and guidance can be provided. CellTran will supply detailed instructions and a biopsy pack for collection and delivery of the biopsy.

Wound Preparation

Myskin will work best when the wound has been brought into an optimum condition for closure. The stage of healing at which myskin is most effective will vary according to the indication, treatment history and other factors. However general principles of wound management are suggested as guidance for those involved in patient management. The system of debridement, optimisation and closure (DOC) is recommended as a treatment paradigm.
